The Royal Burgh of Ayr is a coastal town which lies at the mouth of the River Ayr. The town is the birthplace of celebrated poet Robert Burns and in recent years had grown into a picturesque resort. It offers a beach and other attractions such the 16th century Culzean Castle and the Burns Monument and Gardens.
The town provides convenient travel links with Glasgow Prestwick International Airport situated just 2 miles north of the town. Three major roads, the A79, A77 and A70 link to Glasgow, Stranraer and Edinburgh. Trains run from Ayr directly to many of Scotland’s other major hubs.
Ayr is just 5 miles from Troon, which operates seasonal ferry services to Larne in Ireland.
